Each webinar will take place at 9PM GMT+1 (4PM ET), and will last about 90 minutes.
Webinar 1: 1st June 2020
Learning New Ways to Co-Regulate: A Polyvagal Perspective on Online Connecting
This webinar will look through the lens of Polyvagal Theory to explore how to meet the challenge of complying with requirements for social distance while meeting the essential need for human connection.
Participants will be able to:
- describe how social distancing impacts the autonomic nervous system
- describe how moving from in-person to online connection affects autonomic pathways of regulation and co-regulation for therapists and clients
- describe how to engage the pathways of the Social Engagement System to create an environment of safety and foster co-regulation during remote work
Webinar 2: 9th September
Exploring the Continuum of Social Engagement
This webinar will explore the range of responses supported by the Social Engagement System and how to create a plan that addresses personal connection needs.
Participants will be able to:
- describe the range of responses moderated by the Social Engagement System
- utilize a Personal Connection Plan
- describe how to make connection decisions
Webinar 3: 7th December
Autonomically Informed Intentions
This webinar will look at ways to reinforce emerging autonomic pathways.
Participants will be able to:
- describe how to set autonomic goals
- discuss the use of intentions
- describe how to track emerging new stories
Deb Dana, LCSW specializes in treating complex traumatic stress and lectures internationally on the ways Polyvagal Theory informs clinical interactions with trauma survivors. She is the Coordinator of the Traumatic Stress Research Consortium in the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University and the developer of the Rhythm of Regulation clinical training series. She is trained in Internal Family Systems and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and completed the Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies at the Trauma Center. Deb is the author of The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy (Norton, 2018), Polyvagal Exercises for Safety and Connection (forthcoming from Norton) and co-editor with Stephen Porges, of Clinical Applications of the Polyvagal Theory (Norton, 2018).
